Pizza Express to Launch First U.S. Restaurant in Florida
British restaurant chain Pizza Express is set to make its U.S. debut by opening a restaurant in Florida next year. This expansion is part of the company’s strategy to operate 1,000 restaurants worldwide by 2030. Currently, Pizza Express has approximately 360 locations in the UK and 100 internationally, including in Hong Kong, the UAE, India, and Spain.
To facilitate its entry into the U.S. market, Pizza Express has partnered with Purple Square Management Company, an American franchisee that operates 245 locations across 15 states. Chris Holmes, Chief Development Officer at Pizza Express, expressed enthusiasm for introducing the brand to the U.S., aiming to elevate the pizza dining experience for American consumers.
Founded in 1965, Pizza Express has a significant retail presence, distributing its pizzas and other products in 4,000 supermarkets. The company reported revenues of £454.6 million in 2023. Since 2020, it has been controlled by debt funds Cyrus Capital Partners and Bain Capital.
